OVERVIEW

Semuliki National park is located in Western part of Uganda in Bundibugyo district near Fort Portal town. Semuliki National Park is home for 52 mammal species, 300 tree species, 374 butterfly species, 400 bird species. It is the best birding spot in Uganda that is why it is called a True Birder’s Haven.  You will participate in a nature walk, bird watching, visiting sempaya hot springs.

Highlights.

Day 1: Transfer to Fort Portal and Amabeere Ganyina Mwiru.

Day 2: Explore Ssempaya Hot Spring and Nature walk.

Day 3: Return Back to Kampala.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer Fort Portal and visit of Amabeere Ganyina Mwiru.

After breakfast, you will transfer to Fort Portal for lunch and then proceed to Amabeere g’anyina Mwiru caves. It is believed that Nyina Mwiru’s breasts were cut off by her king father Isaza who threw them in the cave but instead the breasts clung of the cave roof to continue breast feeding her baby boy. You will crawl through thick forest cove to a very brief but yet exciting water fall and then visit the caves. Later that evening you will transfer to your accommodation for an overnight stay.

Day  2: Nature walk, Explore Ssempaya Hot Springs, and Fort          Portal City tour.

After a heavy breakfast, you will buy eggs then drive in to the western arm of the rift valley and descend the long escarpments, having very spectacular views of the lowland forms. You will transfer direct to Semiliki National Park made of Congo’s Ituli forest extension in Uganda. This is the only East Africa’s low land tropical rain forest. A wild life ranger will be assigned to you and walk in to the dense forest of Semuliki which has for a long time been home to primates like the De Brazza’s monkey, and the Zenker’s flying mice which are found nowhere else in Uganda. A lowland bongo has been captured on camera traps. A strong sulphur smell will welcome to the hot springs that constantly boil at 102^o. Here, we shall have a break as you boil the eggs in the hot springs that come out salted. Then continue to a second female hot springs just a stone throw distance through the forest. Transfer back to Fort Portal for a city walk, in the tourism city.

Day 3: Return Back To Kampala.

On this day, you will be welcome to new and the last day of this adventure with a morning delicious breakfast, and then head back to Kampala as you take the flash back of this memorable safari .
